Dubai - UAE

The General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, “Dubai Residency”, has launched, for the first time at Dubai International Airport, the revolutionary “Click and Travel” service, which allows passport officers to complete entry and exit procedures for travelers via advanced mobile devices, in a step that redefines the travel experience and creates a qualitative shift in the speed and efficiency of air procedures.

Record achievement in just seconds

The new service relies on advanced smart technologies that combine facial recognition, electronic passport reading, automatic pre-screening, and immediate connection to official databases via a secure network, allowing traveler procedures to be completed in a record time not exceeding 12 to 15 seconds only. The benefit is not limited to speed only, but rather represents a shift in the concept of traditional procedures, as counters are transformed from fixed locations into mobile units that accompany employees to airport lounges, allowing greater flexibility in dealing with travelers, especially during peak times and emergency situations.

An impressive experimental success
The official launch was preceded by experimental phases that demonstrated the effectiveness of the service, as procedures for 31,373 passengers were completed during the period from May to last August. The tests were expanded in stages, starting in October 2025 in the third terminal, to include all categories of passengers in the various terminals of Dubai Airport in May 2026, before the official announcement of full activation today.

Fastest or smartest?

In this context, Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, explained that “Click and Travel” represents a new achievement added to Dubai’s series of innovations in the field of travel, and comes to complete an integrated system that includes smart gates and red carpet service. Major General Talal Al Shanqeeti, Assistant Director General for Airport Affairs at Dubai Residency, also pointed out that the service is not a substitute for smart gates, but rather a support for them, and the priority will be for families, children and people of determination to relieve them of the hassle of waiting.

Service for everyone
“Click and Travel” is currently available to all travelers, including citizens, residents, citizens of Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and visitors, in a step that strengthens Dubai Airport’s position as one of the most prominent international airports in providing advanced and proactive travel services.

Dubai shapes future travel

The importance of this service is not only limited to saving time, but it represents a qualitative shift in the travel experience in Dubai, as vital technologies merge with secure systems to provide a proactive and seamless service. It is a practical embodiment of the emirate’s vision to be at the forefront of smart cities in the world, and a prominent milestone in the future of air travel, as the passport procedure is transformed from a traditional routine into a smooth and fast experience worthy of the reputation of the busiest and most innovative airport in the world.
