The activities of the Fifth Coordination Forum for Saudi Institutions Concerned with the Arabic Language were launched in the capital, Riyadh, organized by the King Salman International Academy for the Arabic Language for two days under the title “National Policy for the Arabic Language in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: From the Regulatory Framework to Institutional Activation.”

The forum aims to activate the Council of Ministers’ decision regarding the national policy for the Arabic language, and build an integrated work system to support national linguistic initiatives.

An accompanying exhibition and integration between partner entities

The Secretary-General of the Academy, Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washami, explained that the forum reflects the interest of His Highness the Minister of Culture, Chairman of the Academy’s Board of Trustees, in strengthening national efforts for linguistic planning.

The event witnessed the establishment of an accompanying exhibition that allowed participants to view the programs and projects, in addition to bridging communication and exchange of knowledge between experts, and concluded the work by issuing recommendations to support scientific and linguistic reference.

Implications for event tourism and the knowledge economy

The festival contributes to stimulating conference and cultural events (MICE) tourism in the capital, by receiving delegations and facilitating travel and hotel services.

The trend towards empowering the Arabic language also supports investment in linguistic technologies and the knowledge economy, which reflects positively on the cultural and creative industries and support services in the Kingdom.
