The title may seem shocking to some, as Dubai is undoubtedly a global city that has been able to create an exceptional tourism model and become one of the most famous destinations on the international travel map. But it is not the only destination worth visiting in the UAE, and it may not always be the first choice for every tourist; Each emirate has its own experience and different beauty.
In Abu Dhabi, the visitor finds a wonderful mix of culture, luxury and nature, from the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and Saadiyat Island and its world-class museums, to Yas Island and its beaches and resorts. Al Ain also offers a quieter experience linked to oases, mountains and authentic Emirati history.
As for Sharjah, it is an ideal destination for lovers of culture, arts, museums and heritage markets, in addition to the waterfront and beautiful natural areas such as Khor Fakkan and Kalba. The emirate has been able to provide a family tourism experience that preserves the Emirati identity and provides the visitor with rich cultural content.
In Fujairah, the picture changes completely; Where there are mountains and beaches overlooking the Gulf of Oman, diving sites and quiet resorts. It is a suitable destination for those looking for nature and relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of big cities.
Ras Al Khaimah offers an experience that combines mountain adventures with beach and desert resorts, while Ajman is distinguished by its quiet atmosphere, beautiful beaches, and ease of access. As for Umm Al Quwain, it gives the visitor the opportunity to discover a simple and natural side of the Emirates, with its islands, marine areas, and an environment suitable for family trips.
The mistake that some visitors make is to limit Emirati tourism to Dubai only, even though the true strength of the Emirates lies in its diversity. In short distances, tourists can move from skyscrapers to mountains, from international museums to popular markets, and from luxury resorts to heritage villages and quiet beaches.
Dubai is a global tourist gateway and its success is a source of pride for everyone, but discovering the Emirates is not complete by staying there alone. The first destination is not a fixed city name, but rather a place that suits the visitor’s interests. It may be Abu Dhabi for the culture lover, Sharjah for the heritage seeker, Fujairah for the sea and nature lover, or Ras Al Khaimah for the mountain and adventure lover.
My message to tourists is: Start your trip from Dubai if you want, but do not make it the last stop. Give the rest of the Emirates a chance, and you will discover that the Emirates is not one destination, but rather seven integrated tourist experiences, each of which has its own spirit, story, and beauty.
