Kuwait - the capital
Today, Jazeera Airways operated its first direct flights from Kuwait to the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, launching its newest destinations on the African continent and creating a qualitative shift in travel options between the two countries. An official ceremony was held in the Jazeera Passenger Terminal (T5) on the occasion of the launch of the inaugural flight, attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Ethiopia to Kuwait, Dr. Saeed Muhammad Jibril, and Nasser Fahd Al-Obaid, CEO of Government Affairs at Jazeera Airways, in a celebration that reflects the importance of this new route for bilateral relations.
A large Ethiopian community and investors are facing promising opportunities
The number of members of the Ethiopian community residing in Kuwait exceeds 70 thousand citizens, which makes this direct line a vital service for them to facilitate their travel to their homeland and visit their families and friends, while the line also represents a gateway for Kuwaiti investors and businessmen to benefit from the promising opportunities in Ethiopia, which is one of the fastest growing economies in East Africa, as the volume of trade exchange between the two countries exceeded 4.1 billion dollars during the past five years, in an indication of the strength of economic relations and the great potential available to expand cooperation.
Three flights a week and expectations of growth in demand for travel and tourism
Jazeera Airways will operate direct flights between Kuwait and Addis Ababa, three flights per week. Flights can be booked through the company’s website or its application on smart phones. Addis Ababa is an ideal tourist destination for travelers looking for new experiences, as it combines ancient history with a vibrant cultural and artistic scene, and includes international museums, an ancient coffee culture, and distinctive Ethiopian cuisine. The Ethiopian capital is located in the highlands, which gives it a moderate climate throughout the year, as temperatures usually range between 8 and 25 degrees Celsius, which makes it a suitable destination for travelers coming from Kuwait throughout the year, as well as being an ideal starting point for exploring the diverse nature in Ethiopia and its sites included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
