Muscat - Oman:
In a step that reflects the increasing demand for travel between the Sultanate of Oman and Bangladesh, Salam Air, the national economic carrier, launched its first direct flights between Muscat and Sylhet, making it the first foreign operator to operate scheduled flights to this city, which is famous for its green tea gardens and charming nature.

Sylhet..the third destination in Bangladesh

The launch of this new route comes with three flights per week starting September 2026, making Sylhet the Omani carrier’s third destination in Bangladesh after the capital, Dhaka, and Chittagong, as part of an expansion strategy aimed at connecting markets with high potential that do not have sufficient air connectivity options.

Sylhet is one of the fastest growing aviation markets in Bangladesh, serving an area with a population of more than 10 million.

Competitive prices linking Muscat and Salalah

The new line provides convenient travel options for passengers from Muscat and Salalah via smooth connecting flights from Muscat International Airport, with prices starting from 66.99 Omani riyals one way, in a step that puts travel between the two countries within the reach of a wider segment.

An opportunity for Arab tourism and entrepreneurs

The importance of this step is not only limited to strengthening trade ties between Oman and Bangladesh, but also opens the door for Arab tourists and investors to explore the city of Sylhet, which is known as “Green Bangladesh,” thanks to its extensive tea plantations, green hills, and charming waterfalls that make it a unique natural destination in South Asia.

For the Gulf investor, Sylhet is a gateway to a region witnessing a commercial and real estate boom supported by expatriates, which makes it a promising market for investment in the hospitality, real estate and tourism sectors, especially with the improvement of air connectivity and the increase in travel between the Arabian Peninsula and the Indian subcontinent.
