Johor Bahru - Malaysia
The Boeing 747 in the Malaysian city of Johor Bahru is no longer waiting for take-off clearance, but rather guests carrying their bags to spend a different hotel night. The 1975 Avenue & Hotel project transformed two retired jumbo jets into 18 luxury suites, in an experience that combines the history of aviation with modern hospitality. The hotel began receiving guests on a trial basis in August 2026.

From Pan Am and JAL to hotel rooms

The two planes bear the names Bove and Bey, and they have a real history in the skies; One of them previously worked for Pan Am, while the other served within the Japan Airlines fleet before retiring. Today, guests can sleep inside their frames instead of sitting in a narrow seat for long hours.

Bed and bathtub inside the plane

The suites are distributed in designs inspired by different countries, and include a king-size bed, a separate living area, a separate bathtub and a rain shower, while the room can accommodate up to three people. Published rates for September range between approximately RM1,706 and RM2,786 per night, depending on the suite category.

The hotel is larger than the two planes
The experience does not end at the plane door; The complex also includes 20 traditional hotel rooms, a Japanese restaurant, a spa, a gym, a rooftop pool, a jacuzzi, and a water play area for families, making the project a complete entertainment destination and not just a strange place to sleep.

An old plane...and a new tourism idea

A spokesman for the project developer, Tiong Nam Group, said that the goal is to create a destination that combines aviation heritage, modern hospitality, restaurants and entertainment experiences, making it a new landmark in Johor Bahru.

For Arab tourists, the hotel offers an unusual experience near Singapore: sleeping inside a real 747 plane, and waking up in the morning without having traveled a single mile in the air.
