Los Angeles - United States
The legends of world cinema turned into a tangible reality with the official opening of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles, at a huge cost of one billion dollars and after a development journey that lasted 17 years. Film icon George Lucas and his wife, Melody Hobson, will personally inaugurate the artistic monument by receiving the first visitors at the futuristic entrance.

35 halls that combine fine art and space treasures

The massive edifice extends over exhibition spaces that accommodate 35 halls containing more than 1,300 artistic and historical works. Under one roof are the original collectibles of the “Star Wars” series - such as the Naboo N-1 spacecraft, the movie’s robots and costumes - with timeless masterpieces from international names such as Frida Kahlo, Banksy and Van Gogh, in addition to archives of comic books and drawings of historical volumes.

A royal welcome and a response to human values

In his historic speech during the inauguration ceremony, the creator of the epic, director George Lucas, said: “We did not want to build a museum to commemorate individual memories, but rather we wanted to establish an edifice that celebrates narrative and human art that connects peoples and inspires future generations through images and stories.”
