Cairo - Egypt
EgyptAir announced, on the sidelines of the El Alamein International Airshow, the signing of an agreement with Swedavia Airports Company to launch regular flights between Cairo International Airport and Stockholm Arlanda Airport, with 4 flights per week starting December 18, 2026, using the company’s modern fleet.
Direct connectivity opens up Nordic markets
The new line represents an opportunity to expand the base of tourism coming from the Nordic countries, especially during the winter, when travelers search for warm destinations that combine beaches, culture and entertainment. The direct connection will give Swedish tourists easier access to the Red Sea, Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, the North Coast and Nile cruises.
Direct impact on the tourism economy
The increase in air seats is directly reflected in the tourism economy, as each new flight means additional opportunities for hotels, restaurants, transportation companies, tourism programs, and recreational activities. It also increases the ability of investors to operate hotel capacity and target new markets.
Stockholm is a wider gateway and Cairo is an air hub
The importance of Stockholm does not stop at the Swedish market, as it can become a broader gateway to the Nordic countries, while Cairo gives the traveler coming from Sweden the possibility of continuing his journey to a wide network of destinations in Africa, the Middle East, and the Far East, thus enhancing Cairo’s position as an air hub capable of linking European markets with Egyptian tourist destinations and regional markets.
Market diversification and off-season movement
The success of the new line gives Egypt an additional opportunity to diversify its tourism markets, increase traffic outside the traditional seasons, and achieve a greater return on hotel and tourism investments by linking the Egyptian product directly to European demand.
