Abu Dhabi-United Arab Emirates
In its thirty-fifth session, the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair will host a diverse cultural program that highlights the richness of “Balkan culture” and its linguistic and literary diversity, in partnership with the Republic of North Macedonia as the guest of honor of the session.
The dedicated pavilion displays a live experience that includes authentic manuscripts dating back more than 600 years, revealing the depth of historical and cognitive connections with the Arab world.
Building bridges of dialogue and cultural communication
North Macedonia's participation enhances acquaintance between the Arab public and the cultures of the Balkan region, in which Eastern and Western influences intersect.
Through this hosting, the exhibition seeks to consolidate the position of books and knowledge as a tool for building sustainable partnerships between peoples, promoting common cultural and human values, and highlighting the artistic and historical diversity of Balkan societies.
Implications for exhibition tourism and the hospitality economy
Hosting international cultural events contributes to stimulating exhibition and conference (MICE) tourism in the capital, Abu Dhabi, attracting writers, publishers, and visitors interested in heritage.
The demand for the exhibition also helps raise the hotel occupancy rate, stimulate domestic and international air traffic, and support the hospitality and retail sectors in a way that supports the growth of the tourism and cultural economy in the emirate.
