Cairo - Egypt
In a step to enhance the Arab cultural presence in Asian markets, the Cairo International Film Festival concluded a strategic memorandum of understanding with the China Media Group in conjunction with the celebration of the seventieth anniversary of diplomatic relations between Egypt and China, to establish a new phase of artistic cooperation and cultural exchange between the two civilizations.

Strategic partnership for production and training

The agreement between the two sides focuses on supporting regular cinematic exchange by nominating films to participate in festivals, in addition to establishing joint training programs to transfer expertise and exchange the latest technologies in the film and television industry. The memorandum also opens up broad dimensions for implementing joint production projects and organizing mutual offers that allow Arab businesses to expand within the largest promising Asian markets.

A cinematic vision and cultural experience
Critic Mohamed Sayed Abdel Rahim, director of Cairo Film Industry Days, highlighted the importance of this partnership, saying: “This step expands the space of acquaintance between the Egyptian audience and Chinese cinema, and opens a way to learn about different experiences and trends in the film industry.” This coordination culminated in the launch of the “Real China” event in Cairo, and the screening of the documentary film “The Story I Found in China” voiced by artist Hussein Fahmy, head of the festival.

Investment returns and tourist attraction

This partnership gains a prominent economic dimension for the Arab investor in the artistic sector, as it gives him direct investment access to the most developed and globally influential markets through the portal of joint production. On the tourism level, this step enriches the cultural tourism agenda in the Arab region by organizing ongoing international cinematic events, which turns the region into a preferred and suitable destination for lovers of cultural and artistic diversity coming from the Far East.
