Rome - Italy

In a move that redraws the map of marine tourism in the Adriatic Sea, the Italian port of Termoli received the 60-meter luxury yacht “Altair,” in a practical test of the ambitious “Ama” project, which aims to transform the port into a distinctive gateway for large yachts and boutique cruise ships, amid a global growth in demand for exclusive marine tourism.

Successful practical test

The yacht "Altair", owned by the Della Valle family, arrived at the north-eastern pier of the port coming from Greece after a stop in Brindisi, heading to Civitanova Marche. With a draft of 3.80 metres, the yacht docked at the boarding pier at the Tremiti Islands, in a scene that embodied the port’s ability to receive this type of luxury ships, and demonstrated its readiness to enter the international marine tourism market.

A maritime alliance with European ambition

In this context, Fabio Trivelli, representative of the Adriatic Maritime Alliance, said: “The arrival of the yacht represents an important first test for the project, as the entry and docking process took place smoothly, which confirmed the potential of the port of Termoli and its ability to attract large yachts and luxury cruise ships.”

Boutique tourism... an elite destination
The project comes at a time when the cruise sector is witnessing a shift towards boutique tourism, which favors small ports, exclusive destinations and locations that offer authentic experiences away from mass tourism. The port of Termoli benefits from its strategic location on the Adriatic Sea, and its proximity to the famous tourist destinations in the Molise region, to be an attractive station for sailing enthusiasts looking for tranquility and privacy.

An investment opportunity for Arab tourists and investors

This new trend represents a golden opportunity for the Arab tourist looking for luxurious and different marine experiences, as boutique yacht trips allow him to discover small Italian ports that preserve their authentic character, away from the hustle and bustle of crowded destinations. It also opens the way for Arab investors wishing to enter the growing marine tourism sector, whether by investing in yacht marinas, or in logistical and hotel services associated with this promising tourism type, which estimates indicate rapid growth in the coming years.
