Cairo - Egypt
The activities of the Hurghada Youth Film Festival were launched at the theater of the Hurghada Culture Palace, amid a large public and cultural presence from the city’s people and art lovers, and in the presence of a number of members of the House of Representatives, some investors and executive leaders in the governorate, in addition to an elite group of film stars and makers.
Red carpet and about 60 films from 25 countries
The festival activities began by welcoming guests on the red carpet, and the ceremony began with the national anthem, followed by a review of the festive program presented by the artist Tamer Shaltout in Arabic and English. It included the screening of soundtracks for the films of the late musician Hani Shenouda, and the showing of a short film about the city of Hurghada and its touristic and cultural role, with the announcement of the participation of about 60 diverse films representing about 25 Arab and foreign countries.
Honoring an elite group of art stars
The ceremony included honoring a group of stars of art and cinema in appreciation of their generosity and creativity. The list of honorees included the artist Elham Shaheen, the artist Sheri Adel, the artist Mustafa Khater, the artist Chico, and the artist Hamada Hilal.
Full official support for the cultural movement
During her speech, Dr. Magda Hanna affirmed the governorate’s full support for cultural and artistic activities that contribute to nurturing talented people and supporting creative youth, noting the importance of the city of Hurghada hosting such prominent artistic events that enhance the cultural movement and highlight the cultural and touristic face of the Red Sea, pointing out that the arts and cinema represent one of the most important tools for building awareness and spreading culture among young people.
A double win for Arab tourism
The Hurghada Festival is no longer just a local artistic event, but has become a tourist attraction par excellence. The city's hosting of a festival that includes 25 Arab and foreign countries means an influx of guests to Red Sea hotels in a season approaching the winter peak, and direct spending in restaurants, markets, and airlines. For the Arab tourist, the festival represents a double opportunity: watching youth works from his country, and discovering an international tourist destination at competitive prices. As for the Arab investor, the festival is a clear message that Hurghada is no longer just a beach destination, but rather a cultural center that opens up opportunities in hospitality, entertainment, and services related to festivals. Hence, the support of the festival’s organizers and the leaders of the Red Sea does not serve art alone, but rather supports an integrated tourism economy that carries Egypt’s name to the world.
