Dr. Lo Ka Shui, Executive Chairman of Langham Hospitality Group, has received the 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific (HICAP), in recognition of a career spanning more than four decades, during which he has contributed to the development of the luxury hospitality sector and the growth of hotel investments across global markets.

The award was presented during the conference’s 36th edition, held in Singapore from 20 to 22 October 2026, and attended by leading figures in hotel investment. The group said the recognition reflects Lo’s role in strengthening its position and expanding the international presence of its brands.

From Medicine to Global Hospitality Leadership

Lo began his professional career in medicine before moving into business and investment. In 1980, he joined Great Eagle Group, where he was appointed Managing Director in 1990 and subsequently became Chairman in 2006.

Since 2003, he has led Langham Hospitality Group as Executive Chairman, overseeing the development of its business and the expansion of its international portfolio. Today, the portfolio includes more than 40 hotels, resorts and residential projects, either operational or under development, across Asia, Europe, North America, Australasia and the Middle East.

Upcoming Expansion in Bangkok and Venice

The award comes as the group prepares to open The Langham, Customs House, Bangkok, in December 2026. The hotel will be housed in a restored historic building on the banks of the Chao Phraya River in the Thai capital.

The group also plans to introduce its luxury hotel brand in Venice, Italy, as part of a strategy aimed at strengthening its presence in international tourism destinations, with a focus on combining architectural heritage with contemporary hospitality experiences.

Recognition of a Long-Term Leadership Vision

Bob van den Oord, Chief Executive Officer of Langham Hospitality Group, said Dr. Lo’s leadership and long-term vision had laid the foundations for the group’s growth and development over the past decades.

He added: “We are committed to continuing the work in line with the high standards he has established, strengthening our brands, investing in our people and driving the continued growth of Langham Hospitality Group.”

The award adds to a series of honours received by Lo, including the Gold Bauhinia Star in 2003 and other recognitions in the business and hospitality sectors.

Lo Ka Shui’s recognition highlights the importance of long-term investment leadership in the hospitality industry, particularly at a time when global hotel groups are seeking to expand their portfolios through the development of new destinations and the adaptive reuse of historic buildings for luxury tourism projects.
