North Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina are also added to the list, allowing citizens of all four countries to apply online or obtain a visa on arrival, subject to entry requirements, for tourism, events and Umrah.

Riyadh – Saudi Arabia – Al-Rehla

Saudi Arabia announced on Thursday, November 5, 2026, the expansion of its tourist visa eligibility list to include four additional countries: Mexico, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia, as part of efforts to facilitate travel to the Kingdom from more international markets.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that citizens of these countries are now eligible to obtain a tourist visa electronically or upon arrival at the Kingdom's entry points, subject to applicable regulations and entry requirements.

A Visa for Tourism, Umrah and Events

The tourist visa is not limited to sightseeing and leisure travel. It also allows visitors to attend events, exhibitions and conferences, perform Umrah, and visit relatives and friends.

This flexibility enables travellers to combine several activities during a single trip, whether their primary purpose is leisure, participation in a professional event or a family visit.
The tourist visa does not permit visitors to perform Hajj or undertake paid employment.

One-Year Validity and Stays of Up to 90 Days

According to Saudi Arabia's official tourist visa portal, the electronic visa is valid for one year from its date of issuance and generally permits multiple entries, unless otherwise specified by the visa issued.

The maximum permitted stay is three months, while travellers must hold a passport valid for at least six months upon entry into the Kingdom.

Visa issuance and entry remain subject to meeting all applicable requirements, and nationality-based eligibility does not guarantee automatic approval.

New Opportunities for the Hospitality Sector

The decision opens additional opportunities for tourism companies, airlines and hotels to attract visitors from North America and Southeastern Europe, particularly as Saudi cities continue expanding their programmes of exhibitions, entertainment events and tourism activities.

However, the announcement did not include official projections for visitor arrivals from the four newly eligible countries or their potential tourism expenditure.

Al-Rehla Perspective | What Has Changed for Travellers?

Passport holders from Mexico, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia can now benefit from the tourist visa application options available to eligible nationalities following their inclusion on the official list.
Travellers are advised to verify the appropriate visa category, passport validity, applicable fees and entry requirements through the official government portal before making travel arrangements.

For travellers of other nationalities, the announcement does not automatically change their existing visa eligibility or entry conditions.
