The airline completes its first ground handling operation for an aircraft arriving from Madinah and departing for Beirut, as it expands its fleet through an order for 26 Airbus aircraft.
Kuwait – Al Rehla
Kuwait-based Jazeera Airways has launched in-house ground handling operations at Terminal 5 (T5) of Kuwait International Airport, bringing services previously managed by an external provider under the airline’s direct control.
Announced on November 7, 2026, the operational transition began with the airline’s ground handling team servicing an aircraft arriving from Madinah, Saudi Arabia, before preparing it for its onward flight to Beirut, Lebanon.
From Planning to Operations
The launch marks the implementation of a strategy first announced by Jazeera Airways in March 2025 to strengthen its operational capabilities and reduce reliance on external service providers.
The new arrangement gives the airline greater control over aircraft turnaround procedures, allowing closer coordination between ground teams and flight schedules while improving responsiveness to operational requirements.
26 Airbus Aircraft Support Expansion
The initiative coincides with Jazeera Airways’ fleet expansion programme, which includes an order for 26 Airbus aircraft: 18 A320neo and eight A321neo jets.
The airline has received the first aircraft from this order and expects another delivery before the end of 2026.
Barathan Pasupathi, Chief Executive Officer of Jazeera Airways, said bringing ground handling operations in-house would strengthen the airline’s ability to improve service quality, accelerate aircraft turnaround times and achieve greater cost efficiency over the long term.

Al Rehla Perspective
The introduction of in-house ground handling represents an important operational development, giving Jazeera Airways more direct control over a critical aspect of flight punctuality and passenger experience.
However, the initiative’s actual impact will need to be measured through operational data comparing aircraft turnaround times, handling costs and on-time performance before and after the transition.
These indicators will become particularly important as the airline continues expanding its fleet and destination network.
